Last Sunday we drove up to Vienna to say goodbye to our good friends, Gavin & Amanda. We met them 5 years ago during training for heading over to Slovenia. Gavin & Amanda were also raising support, completing training and heading to Slovakia to work with the JV team there. Over the years we've had such great times with them...including being mistaken for each other over and over again, going on vacation together, meeting in Vienna (the halfway point between us), eating at TGIFriday's in Vienna, playing games at conferences and everywhere else we went with them, Amy & Amanda were roommates at every JV women's retreat they'd been to, then Amanda came when Abigail was 2 weeks old to cook meals for us and she was about 20 weeks pregnant herself!
They've been such good friends to us! We're going to miss them dearly!
While we were there, we went with their family to the
Schonbrunn Palace and walked around the gardens. It was a nice place to spend our last time together on this side of the ocean.

Made me laugh to remember your brave JVK camp rescue and the kids saying, "Thanks Gavin!" You can't win on that one = but it still makes me laugh!
We'll miss them as well. We had our own sad goodbye with them and loved on those babies as much as we could in a last hour. How sad to think of our JV family without them.

I forgot about JVK camp! That is a very funny memory...we'll all miss having them around, but maybe with Joel and I still here, people will think and feel like they're still here! Ha! Especially the kids. = )
