Sunday, we had a picnic with Joel's soccer team. We thought it was the usual summer picnic with the team, but it turned out to be a goodbye picnic for us! I started crying as they handed us a gift. They had all signed a soccer ball for Joel, gave us a huge bar of chocolate and underneath, was a book they had printed with pictures of soccer games, eating pizza (what they did after almost every game!), picnics and other get-togethers. It was very special and something we'll always treasure!
Later, Gregor started saying something about wearing red jerseys. I thought it was a team thing, so I started to check on the kids and they called me back. They had red t-shirts made for us. The front says "You will always be in our hearts" with everyone's names printed in the shape of a heart. The backs all say something different. Joel's says, "Daddy Woodard" with a guy kicking a soccer ball. Mine says, "Mommy Woodard" with a girl kicking a soccer ball. Abigail's says, "Kid #1, Abigail" and Elijah's says, "Kid #2, Elijah". The front of mine also says, "Kid #3 on the way!" It was such a fun surprise!!
Their friendships have meant a lot to us these past two years. Especially Gregor & Katja's since we were also neighbors with them. They're little treasures that we're packing with care to take back with us to South Carolina!

What good times! Special people and memories to take with you. It is heartwarming to see the impact that you have all made on the Slovenian people that you have come to know.
