October 31st was Abigail & Elijah's first time to take part in Halloween. Joel's parent's church has an alternative for the evening called Hallapalooza and we took the kids to that for the first bit of time. It's mainly for kids aged 4-12, but they also have some things for toddlers, so it was jam packed with a lot of people and kids having a lot of fun! The kids wore out the toddler area pretty fast so we headed out to the food stands, got a bite to eat and then jumped back in the car to make it back to the neighborhood for the traditional trick or treating.
Both kids caught on pretty quickly...I think collecting the candy helped with that! My favorite parts were watching Abigail pushing the door bell, then stepping back to wait for the door to open, hearing Elijah's little voice saying "tick or teeeet!" and "tank ooh", seeing his little waddle as he walked in his stuffed little monster costume and seeing the joy on both faces as they wandered about from house to house, amazed that people were just giving them candy! Abigail kept saying, "can we do this tomorrow too?!" It felt so nostalgic for me, remembering my childhood years of trick or treating with my parents. Only we did it in Oregon, when the weather was turning colder for the winter and had to have either wind-proof (living in Troutdale!) and/or rainproof costumes. We usually headed home because we couldn't stand the cold any longer!
Here though....it was 82 degrees (28 Celcius!!) that day and really warm that evening! I was wearing a sleeveless shirt as we all walked around!! The kids kept taking their costumes off because they were so warm! Abigail's would've been perfect for Troutdale weather! It was just a really fun evening for us "foreigners" to celebrate a classic American holiday.

Pretty warm by now...especially with running from house to house! A couple times Elijah was stopping in the road to take his costume off because he was so hot. We forced him to keep it on though, being the good parents that we are! : )

how adorable!! Sounds like they really enjoyed their trick or treating experience. It was in the 80's here in so. california also. I remember one Christmas it was 92 degrees here--very strange, but now I am use to it. Much Love and be sure and keep us posted on the new little one:)

They looked soooo cute!!!! Noah was amazed that people were giving him candy too. Wish we could have had the kids together! Can't wait to hear how the Dr's visit went today too. Come on Baby!!!
What cute costumes. What fun! We get NO trick or treaters here on the ranch. It isn't much fun walking an acre and a half just to get to the next front door! I'm glad they had fun, love to you all!

Yes, I know what you mean with the weather. For Halloween this year it was around 70 degrees or so when kids came to my neighborhood. It was so weird because I am used to Oregon being so cold at Halloween but now I am in Virginia!
