First Birthday!

We had a party for Abigail on Monday with some of our team. It was a lot of fun to watch Abigail explore her presents! Here are a few photo collages, to see them bigger, just click on them. That bit of frosting on Abigail's tongue was about all she had of her cake. No great "first birthday cake face" pictures for this girl. She was feeling pretty tired at that time of the day, so turned down the cake. Maybe I should've made a chocolate one?!

Oh...and she loves dolls whose eyelids open and close and have those stiff eyelashes. Some friend's daughter has a doll like that and she let Abigail play with her. The next several days after that she started playing with our eyelashes and eyelids. Pretty cute! New discoveries!

Abigail and I head out to Oregon tomorrow morning (bright & early) to spend a week with my parents. My mom is thrilled to be throwing her granddaughter a birthday party for her first year!

Joel and the 6 Slovene students will follow next weekend. We had a meeting last night to hand out information their parents will need for the trip. Several of the parents also came to the meeting. It was great! Everyone is excited, well....the parents are a bit nervous for their kids, of course! but happy that they have this opportunity.

Mike & Michelle Ricklick are in town right now. Mike is free of cancer!! Praise the Lord! They've decided, however, that it would be best for their family if they stayed in Modesto, California. So Mike & Michelle are here right now packing up their home to ship their belongings back to California. We're so sad to see them go. Yet, we also know that they are where the Lord would have them and are proud of them for following Him.

Well...I have a bit more packing to do! And...I'd like to get some nice time with Joel leaving him for a week!

See you soon!

That cake is just adorable. Good job on the first birthday cake, Mom!! Have a fun time here in cool, summery Oregon. Just to warn you, there's been unseasonably cool and rainy weather here. Personally, I think weather doesn't matter when you're visiting family. Have fun. I'll pray for a good trip with the wee one.
