Actually, he's been going back and forth from Trdna Skala, working there with further renovations and remodeling with Drago and Todd as well as working hard around here.
The biggest project he's been doing here at the house is getting a wood stove ready for us to use this winter! We've been saving up for one and we finally found one on sale within our price range and Joel snatched it up! Then he looked online for how to install one, what it would need to be placed on etc. and built a "hearth pad" for it over the past week. It's beautiful and we are really looking forward to a cold, snowy winter now!

I think these sell for around $600 and I think Joel made this one for around $50! We had some tiles left over from our kitchen flooring and wall around the bread oven (see below!) actually, the exact amount needed for him to complete the pad. Thank you Lord and good job, Joel! Don't you agree?!!Another project connected with that one is getting an old bread oven ready for use in our kitchen! Our house was built in 1941 or 42 and originally had a bread oven built into the wall in the kitchen that was connected to a ceramic "oven" type thing on the back side of it which was in the living room. They are common in older houses over here and are actually really amazing! When used efficiently, they can heat an entire house. It would have been a bonus to have still had it in the living room. Unfortunately, it was removed during renovations some years ago which left a hole in the back of the existing bread oven in the kitchen. So Joel closed it in with some bricks and now it is ready to be used as a bread/pizza oven again! Now our pizza nights are going to take on a new twist!
As you can see, it's not too big inside, so I won't be mass producing bread for extra money or anything! : ) Just for fun! The wood stove is on the back of this wall, so Joel will connect the chimney from the wood stove with the existing chimney for this oven. So great!

That was going to be my question-where was the stove put? Now I have the answer from the second set of pictures! Really cool, really inovative of Joel to tie it into the bread oven. Great job, Joel! Look forward to cozy nights, and of course, good bread and pizza!
