Celebrating Fall with Students

(Okay, I'm back at the computer while the kids are both taking their afternoon naps. We'll see how much I get done! : )

I just want to post a couple pictures and tell a story of what we've been doing with the students so far this fall. Having a leadership team has been encouraging as we plan and carry out events to do together.

A couple Fridays ago some of the guys planned a LAN party at TS. Students from Ljubljana and Radovljica joined in the gaming! What a privilege to have a Student Center to provide a place for guys to get together for their kind of enjoyment. ; )
The next day we took advantage of the beautiful fall weather and had a picnic at Lake Bled. We asked Benjamin Hlastin and his family to join us for the day as well. Ben is a Slovene who completed Bible College in the states, met his wife there and together they returned as Missionaries. We have invited him to speak with our students several times in the past and every time he challenges them in why they believe what they believe and draws them closer to the Lord. Every time he has spoken, there is a group of students huddled around him afterward to ask more questions and learn more. Saturday at Bled was no exception.

He spoke about the upcoming holiday "Day of the Dead" (All Saints Day), where people flock to cemetaries to light candles, lay flowers and honor their relatives, in light of what the Bible says about death and how Jesus conquered it. Many students were challenged and even bothered a bit by his convictions and that's okay. They listened and it got them thinking...

It was a beautiful day and so fun to enjoy a fall Saturday together.This past Friday we planned to have a Fall Festival outside, showing a movie on the wall of the museum next to our house, sitting on bales of hay, roasting hot dogs over an open fire, carving apples and playing some games...instead, it rained and rained all day!

So we brought the outdoors in! Piles of leaves and chestnuts lined the floors and window sills as well as pumpkins scattered about. We carved apples around the kitchen table though, scratched the hot dogs and enjoyed chicken nuggets and french fries hot from the oven...along with carmel corn, carmeled apples and spice cake. Some people played Catan while others watched Narnia. It was just one more evening to celebrate being together!
