Children's Zoo

That's what the kid's call the Children's Museum. It shares the same parking lot as the Portland Zoo, so the kids started calling it the Children's Zoo years ago and it has stuck! Friday night was Target's Free First Friday night and we haven't been since Hannah was a baby so we decided to take the kids there.

In fact, here are some pictures from the last time we were there...January 27th, 2012!

I wouldn't necessarily recommend going on the one "free" night of the month, but it would cost our family $60 for just one visit so we decided it was worth the crowds. ;) It was a little too crowded for our family, but we made the most of it. Several times the kids would be playing with something and another kid would come up and snatch it out of their hands or even push them out of the way. It was a good opportunity to just practice walking away. A couple times though, Joel stepped in and corrected the other child or told them to wait...his Papa Bear instincts came out and he protected his kids! ;)

Hannah took turns saying each room was her favorite. She's an ideal age for the grocery store/diner room and just loved it. Her favorite part was being the cash register. Next door in the Pet Hospital, her favorite part was being the receptionist. Seems like we have a secretary in the making! ;) She also enjoyed playing in the water room and having her face painted.
It's so nice to see that happy face this week!

Caleb really enjoyed all of it as well, mostly the "rock room" and the grocery store. At one point his, Brother Bear instincts came out and he almost hit a boy who was taking Hannah's turn at being the cash register in the store. ;) We had to help out with that. The other boy was being pushy and greedy though! Caleb had lots of fun despite all the other kiddos.
Abby loves, loves, loves animals right now so she really enjoyed the pet hospital and if it hadn't been as crowded as it was, would've spent more time playing in every part. At one point a 2 year old girl walked off with the doggie she was playing with but she rallied and picked up a different one that soon became her new favorite. She is really into doing gymnastics right now too. (we hope to get her signed up for real gymnastics soon!) They have a circus room right now with a swinging bar, so she spent about 30 minutes standing in line and taking turns swinging and hanging. I was impressed at her ability!

Elijah really enjoyed the rock room as well and well...he just has fun no matter where he is! He enjoyed the circus room with the foam barbells and clown outfits.

As you can see, Joel had fun playing with things too! ;)
I love my strong man! ;)

Oh my gosh that looks like so much fun!! Joel we are so impressed with how much weight you can lift ; ) The kids all look great and like they were having a blast. I know it is hard when other children have not quite learned the art of taking their turn, but it sounds like your family new when to step in and help each other. Way to go family!! Love you all,
